Yeah its good you have a fan, So your Ex HDD doesn't over heat and blow up your computer :L

It should be fine. It's just to prevent overheating.

He was the one that suggested it so this comment doesn't make much sense. He was asking if it was alright to use it to prevent overheating so he would know that he was using it as a method to prevent overheating lol.
