Android and ipod wont mount into computer

Alright, my android hasnt been mounting in my computer. I'm using ubuntu for now since windows has been driving me crazy. It says on ubuntu that I have 0 free space. I tried to delete stuff but it didnt work. I try and copy a file to my device and it says:
Cannot copy file because not enough space. The file is like 11mbs and I have 2gb on my android. Same thing happened with my ipod touch.

Note: I didnt have both of them on my computer. Linux doesnt support that.

Anyone know why?

Well I'm not very good with Linux, but did you make sure your phone's settings were to mount on plugin?
