I got console banned for being able to play burnt games in November.
I had it happen 2 times. Got a xbox, got jtagged waiting a few dyas got another it got jtagged and since I got the 3rd one it's not happpen. I sold my xbox 1 month ago though.
I heard if you have a JTagged xbox and you go online with it you'll get banned.
Is it true?
Nope, I don't JTAG, I find it pretty pointless.

That is true. Your Xbox 360 could be detected within hours of gameplay if you aren't careful. There are, of course, ways to avoid getting banned but a lot of people who use Jtag Xbox 360s aren't careful enough. The majority of Jtag owners use them for hosting paid games and the hype of gaining money goes to their head, thus diminishing their chances of staying unbanned as they continue to host games, not thinking of the risks that lie ahead.
Never been console banned, Never will be. Fingers Crossed. Plus firmware mods are just asking for a console ban obviously.

I have been console banned. I recovered the gamertag Spark.
I am glad to say that I have not been console banned.
I've been console banned once, and banned many times on Halo.
Mostly due to DDoSing, and stealing accounts and charging the CC's.
But I stopped all that
