Well i always find it hard to tell my freinds this but she has put you into the best friend category.
It happens so much , its happend with around 3 of my relationships/freindships and it really is a nightmare.
You hang around alot and chat alot etc but you never show signs of liking her more , so she just throws you into the best friend category , and im not joking around, its how girls work, but you cant go in too seriously, like don't just walk up to her when your alone and say , "<namehere> I love you" it doesn't work ,they hate the whole sudden thing, when your hanging out maybe just ask her what her status is with boys, she is bounds to tell you as she has you in this best friend category , so anyway if she doesn't tell you then you could reply with "Oh , well i just wondered" and she might ask why you wondered , you can reply saying "Well i just thought that maybe you and me would work together as boyfriend and girlfriend, i mean we always hang out and stuff" then depending on what she says you can say "And don't think that im pushing you into a thing im just wondering because your a real nice girl and it would hurt to see you get with some butthead like most of the guys in this school are"
So even if half the guys in school aren't assholes, she wont care, she should take the full thing in and at least think about it! because everything you said before that made her crap brix, she wont be used to boys being that nice.
And going back to "and she might ask why you wondered" if she doesnt ask why and you think she is about to move onto another subject, then just nicely interrupt and say the above that i typed out for you.
I know this whole thing sounds like i play girls and stuff, but i really don't, iv'e had 6 major relationships from BEST friends to girl friends and they all worked out good apart from one, and the only reason one screwed up is because that was the one that taught me all of this. Im not trying to show off or anything but trust me im good with girls.

ALSO EDIT : No offence to users that have posted in here, and i have not read them all, but the ones i have read, IMHO it sounds like you got this advice from either a porno or a james bond movie. Movies are good but totally crap if you dont have the confidence, and this kid obviously doesn't advance in that area. [No offence]

ANOTHER EDIT!! - IF IT DOES SCREW UP , (AROUND A 0.00 RECURRING 1 PERCENT CHANGE) And like you said earlier "We have projects together" then for example, do everything i said on a Friday, therefore if it screws up , you have a full weekend to hype yourself up for your lesson with each other on Monday, so when you get to this lesson your not gonna be embarrassed, keep your head high and talk to her like normal, then she's gonna be thinking "Wtf , most guys run away." trust me the confidence is a the best thing you can bring to the table. This should fix everything after an hour or two and you can ease yourself into saying "So, we can still be friends right? cause if not then i really need to find a new best friend and i heard there running out" -Should do the job buddy
