Agree with Damink. General forums, simply.. don't work. Unless you have alot.. and I mean alot of members. But considering there are so many; you probably wont get so many..
Not trying to be rude or anything, it's just a slim chance of your forums not going anywhere.

Yeah, I've started a general forum as well, but, it's still a niche based one. It's moving up in life (muil.net). You should attempt at a more specific niche, you'll have a better chance of getting members. And make the changes I told you on MSN last night. If you're not going to follow my advice than don't waste my time asking for it. ;)

Look guys i offer everything on my forum.
1) Downloads. All warez EVERYTHING. Even requests.
2) Porn. Yes even accept requests.
3) Music. Yes even accept requests.
4) Ebooks. Yes even accept requests.

I allow any filthy crap you can think of on my forum so its like no rules.
I offer VIP which has privileges like email accounts and web space and even there own forum.

The list goes on man. Seriously i offer everything i can think of and i cant hold or keep members.
Unless you can esuckdick like Omni can then i dont have any answers. Its luck of fail.
Well perhaps commitment or fail. I decided when i started my forum i will keep it up no matter what. I will pay the couple of hundred a year to keep it alive even if i am the only member. Now i have a couple that frequent it and some that have paid for VIP so its paid for itself for me largely.
If your committed man then dont listen to anything we say. Commit. Say to yourself i am going to keep this alive for a year.
Then during that year you make it better.
After the year bro you will love your little waste of internet space like i do and will not remove it.

The only reason that Grizzly's site has a chance of surviving is because it's a General Site with a Niche. It's a general site ABOUT something. Something in General. Not just general.

Alright here is a fact i dont often offer but will here now.
THE OWNER/ADMIN makes the forum guys. If he has cred then people follow. Look at this place.
Its no damn different to any of the forums your all pushing with the one exception. Omni runs it.

Dont agree? Well i dont care. Its a cold hard fact guys. If your a noob with no net presence and wanna start a forum with no real niche then your already dead. Absolutely no chance IMHO.

Thing is, this site is dieing off, so cred doesn't really matter. What matters is quality content in the long run. What needs to happen is OP needs to start SPAMing his board with some good content and SPAMing (not literally, just throw it out there) his URL all over the vast world we know as the internet. People will come, some will join, most won't. That's how a forum works. Of those that join, especially at the beginning, about 5% will post (until you start getting a lot of posts than it can grow as much as about 85%). It just takes dedication. OP do what you want, remember, it's your forum. I just speak from experience in starting and running some forums. Others speak from their experience. We all speak from what we would like to see on a site.
