No techniques work for me, so I just lay there until I go back to sleep, but if i'm hungry I will go make something to eat, or if I am horney, yano Lol jokes.

Well usually, what I do is lay on my bed while opening my eyes and think about random stuffs and also, by doing that, it helps me to get back to sleep after a while.

I partake in marijuana so I do not often have this issue but when I do, I just get up and do something like a jog or a shower.
