ReDesign Logo for existing Company?

Hi everyone!

So I recieved a college interview in the post about 3 days ago. Completely slipped my mind and I've just realised that it is on wednesday. I have prepared my graphics portfolio but just need to finish the task that they set me. The task is simple:

ReDesign a logo for an existing company

So I need ideas who to do? I thought microsoft would be good or Google. But I am really not sure. Any ideas?

Animal Planet possibly? Their current logo is kinda suck-ish and there's a lot of possibilities when it comes to making it "animal planet" related.

This is their current logo, which has nothing to do with animals nor planets:

Or you can try Apple, they have the coolest logo and you can just take a normal silver Apple and then mix it up!

Use your creativity, it'll be easy.
