Hey guys, I've been working on this for the past hour-or-so. I think the end result has came out quite well. Not sure what you guys think of it but as I have it right now I like it. So can you all check it out and let me know what you think please?

Style your links better, add a favicon, change the title, use better colors, use different font familys.
In fact, if it is a blog...use Wordpress.

No I'm not using another template. That's why I lost interest in executable. This was only a release to get it up and running, I'll be going into detail with it today.

It's not really a blog, more of a storage place for all my work and I can post information about them on the index. I just called it a home made blog because it's kind of like one. Also, I know wordepess isn't a template, but they use templates.

All websites use a template of some sort, even if it's just basic HTML.
I don't like the layout you've gone for. If you want a website to showcase work, and yourself, it NEEDS to be professional, otherwise people won't take you seriously. At the minute, it looks basic and quite amateur. The whole vertical layout you've gone for is old school, and although I'm generally a fan of old school, for websites, you need to keep them as modern and up to date as possible.
Try something a little more creative, such as, navigation down the left, banner top left, and content centered. Rather than having text links, try and spice the navigation up a bit.. Look at websites such as Google, Youtube, Facebook, etc.. And get some inspiration from their navigation designs.
Make a new logo... Don't go for that horrid bevel, and high contrasted gradient. It looks childish and unprofessional. Again, look at other popular websites logo designs and see what you can come up with. Keep it simple and easy on the eye.
Finally, the colour scheme. Dark themes can look good sometimes, in particular, with GFX related websites. For a personal site, I'd try to keep it somewhere in between dark & light. Again, be creative with your colour choice, and how they interact with each other.
Basically, rethink what you're trying to achieve with your site. Keep it simple & easy on the eye. Most important thing is doing your research.

I honestly don't see why it's so important to have a design which is "up to date". Seen as though it's a personal site, why can't I have it to my personal prefrences of design?
I will probably re-do or spice up the site though, I think it looks a little dull and boring at the moment.
