Will these Upgrades Work with my PC?
#1
Hi, I'm thinking of doing some upgrades on my Dell Dimension E520
Yes, I know it's pretty old.

Since I'm starting to play Wow pretty soon I want it to run smoothly.

Here's my computer specs and the RAM and Graphics Card.
Also if you think these aren't great or can recommend a better upgrade from a different website please go ahead.

Specs:

Upgrades:

Graphics Card:

or,

RAM:

or of course the Dell Website:

Please tell me what you think as starting over Christmas break wouldn't be too bad.

Thanks, FrosTi

get ATI 5570 rather than the 5550 or the 9500GT.

and that ram won't work, you need a DDR2 Ram, that is only DDR1 400.

i think your system have DDR2 533.

Are you kidding me. Why not buy a memory kit from newegg and such. You can get a 4gb kit for that price lol

Then what psu do you have in your system. The Dell standard psu are 280 watt it ain't enough.

That gpu is weak aswell btw.
Another small problem what's your clock of your cpu. You need 3 and above to run a modern gpu without hassles. Dell can't be overclocked

I'm sorry but I don't know much about hardware,

Dedrex I'm almost convinced on buying the dell ram as it's MADE for my computer so that's done, I'm stuck on the graphics card, for my make the default is 320w but the ati 5550 and 5570 recommend 400w.

I don't want it overheating but the default graphics card sucks.

Please respond again, I'm stuck.

No ram is made for your computer lol. They just put a Dell sticker on it and priced you double. You can buy sticks from newegg for cheaper like I said. Don't waste your money on that.

You'll need a 450w psu minimum and the problem is they don't is the standard size atx so it won't fit

your specs says your board supports ddr2. The one you picked is ddr 3200. Thats ddr1.

And no, the 5550 and 5570 only eats 39W at max. 9500gt eats 50W at max.

Alright since you seem to explain it a little more can you show a link to these?

Also maybe a 2pack of 2gigs ram would be cool if they worked with my computer.

Here's my full settings.

There's a 4gb kit that will work in your pc

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product
The psu needs at least 32 Amps available on the +12 volts rails. So check the 12v rail on your psu

Pc2 3200 are ddr2 ram btw
E520 Computer takes the PC2-4200/5300/6400 DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR2

i can't open them bestbuy links, give me access denied error.
so i only based the PC3200 from here

You don't have permission to access "http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Memory+Master+-+2-Pack+1GB+PC3200+DDR+DIMM+Memory+Kit/9359892.p?" on this server.

it says PC3200 hence i concluded its ddr1.
