I caught Googlebot registering on my forum today!

I've never seen it register before! I added a link at the top to register in the link menu thing so maybe it was just checking that out.

As the biggest search engine online it does the most indexing. It's normal to see Googlebot on your site often.

I wasn't just posting this because Google Bot was on my website, it was because Google bot was registering.

Googlebot just goes through the site and 'clicks' anywhere

Your forum likely triggers the "registering" action by simply viewing the registration page. Googlebot, or any search engine crawlers for that matter, does not actually register on your forum. All it's doing is indexing every page it can successfully access.

I see it everyday just viewing threads and members.

Yep very normal.
Google and all spiders scrape up all links on your forum. (unless in robots.txt file as deny)
The register.php is just one of them.
The bots will simply see the register page and record its contents.
If it bothers you i suggest editing your robots.txt file to suit.
