are you using wireless with WEP encryption?
This happens could be happening to abnormal traffic noise
try changing the Wireless networks channel.. move the wireless
adapter closer to the wireless router and try keep wifi jamming
devices far away from both wireless devices...
slowly getting better

I actually had this problem yesterday, it's not a matter of being firewalled I had to restart my computer and it worked for me.
