How did you get a decimal? It's an integer calculation..

80 % ( 2 *( 5 + 3 * ( 4 + 6 * ( 5 / 2 )) / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 3 * ( 4 + 6 * 2) / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 3 * ( 4 + 12) / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 3 * 16 / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 48 / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 4))
80 % (2 * 9 )
80 % 18
8

80 % 18 = 80-18-18-18-18 = 8

% is modulus division, or the whole remainder wen dividing integers.

Hope this helped Big Grin

I never done modulus division, but from Google the answer is 15.8.

Everyone seems to be getting 8. I'm not sure how to do it.

A computer doesn't read division we do. A variable will be given a value, either as an integer (whole number) or a double (decimals). When dividing 2 integers as we do in this case, it will only give you the whole number. For example, you and I both know that 5 / 2 is 2.5, but to the computer, the answer is 2.

As for modulus, it is the complete opposite of division. It takes the whole remainder after you would have divided them. Using the example as above, 5 % 2, you would divide 2 as many times as possible evenly into 5. Since this is only twice, you have a whole remainder of 1, since 2 * 2 is 4, and 5 - 4 is 1.

Sorry for this whole confusing deal, I could simplify it further if you like.

80 % (2 * ( 5 + 3 * ( 4 + 12) / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 3 * 16 / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 48 / 10))
80 % (2 * ( 5 + 4))
80 % (2 * 9 )
80 % 18
8

Why the hell would you not have decimal? 5/2 = 2.5 not 2 Tongue
I believe you are wrong and the answer would be 15.8 as I said.
I understand that computers and humans read division differently. I just never had to deal with or learn modulus. I am excellent at math. Since this is something I don't know I am going to read up on it to learn it. But thanks for finding a math problem I didn't know how to do since If i don't know something I try to learn it.
Modulus just gets the remainder of a division.
It's easy. Big Grin If there is no remainder then it's 0.
I kept getting wired answers, which proves that I haven't studied Modulus!
