Hey bro, if it is really that serious then you should ditch the evidence. Also I they might need a search warrant to search your house if it was that serious. If it wasn't about identity theft, CC fraud, or something like that then you are probably just overreacting, and they probably don't even know you.
If you really truly believe you're going to get caught then I advise you seriously consider surrendering. Any judge and even prosecutors will feel that your guilt is well-placed and give you a plea deal or lighter sentence. You may even walk. If you're a minor (sounds like you are) you may get off very lightly. What you don't want to do is get arrested and have your house searched in front of your family. That's going to really be a problem.

I'd start by having a sit down with your family expressing what you've done and how sorry and regretful you are. Tell them you'd like to work something out.

If this was an internet crime I'd start with the feds IC3 division. You can give them a call. You're parents might advise you differently and even consider hiring a lawyer.

I know you may be very scared of this option but the release of your guilt will make you whole again.

Not really a win as people think. He might just have one family computer in the house. And the evidence might not even be inside his house. An IP match to his residence could be enough. And let's say he carded something...that too could already have been delivered to him with evidence that it was him who signed for it or took delivery. Sure a computer format is going to destroy some evidence but it may not be enough.

You should only ever admit to do something as a last resort... Seriously, if they have no evidence, then they can't do anything at all.. If you're not sure what evidence they may have, then maybe think about coming clean but really only do that if you are 100% sure that it would be the best thing to do (Which in most cases, unless its something really serious like rape/murder, isn't the best thing to do).

It would help to know what you did but I understand you want to keep that private. You're probably just paranoid and nothing will come of it, but if you are really worrying and you want to do what you can incase they do come knocking, you should get rid of your computer ( = All evidence gone). Doesn't matter how much they think you did it, if they have no evidence and you tell them absolutely nothing, you will be released without charge.
Its not so much going to juvie/finding evidence that scares me, its the fact that my parents will know what I've done that scares me. My Internet contract is under her name, and if I get caught, she will go to jail. @Omni, my parents will kill me if they find out what I've done. I don't think that I should talk to them about it. They will be ashamed.

I'm not sure how it works but if that really happens then you still can't do anything, your parents will still go to jail because you aren't old enough to take responsibility for your own actions.

Another way would be you confessing when your parents going to jail and hoping you would go to Juvie so nothing would happen to them, I'm not sure about all this, if it really happens, get a lawyer.

If you're concerned about your parents going to jail, then you should be thinking about the evidence side of things. Without evidence, the police can't do anything at all...
Just don't worry about it.. How old are you by the way?

Reformatting will do nothing. If they really want to catch you they can find the information on your hard drive after you've reformatted several times.

Just get rid of the HDD and destroy it so the data is completely not able to be retrieved. Depending on how far you are willing to go to avoid it, there are other options. And the police will also need to go to court for a warrant to search. If they get it for the wrong thing I don't think they can bring you in for the crime...

If you are worried about your parents, do what you think would completely clear these charges on them. I have never gotten into trouble with the law so my parents haven't been in that position... sorry I can't be of more help. Feel free to message me on live messenger or PM me. My dad is a judge and my brother is in law school. I can try to get you some legal advise to some extent...

The first sentence I find is false, you should always surrender if it's something bad you've done. If he has done something illegal and he is worried about it, he should just come clean and he will get a lighter sentence.
@iTz reality: I live in Spain, things are different here from the US (which is were I suppose that you live).
@Fragma: I'm 14.

If they show up, what should I do? Should I give them access to my computer? It is protected with 128 bit encryption.

No way.. Never admit to doing something if there is a way out of it... I've had so many solicitors (lawyers) say this to me and I've never ever been to court, only time I've ever been charged with anything is when I have admitted to doing something. (Been arrested about 10 times and would of got sent to prison if it wasn't for my solicitors advice).

@Zeon
If they show up, and you have evidence on your computer, you will get into trouble.. You don't need to give them access to your computer, they will take it without your permission anyway and no doubt will find enough evidence to charge you with whatever the offense may be. Honestly, if you think they will come knocking, throw out your computer seriously I know what I'm talking about when it comes to dealing with police lol...
