I have to ask when do you expect to finish your game because it sounds good.

Maybe some time next year. No idea really. I don't really have a safe-haven in mind to say that it's finished. I'm just going to keep working on it until I feel it's finished. And even then, it's going to support some custom content and DLC, so it's going to be constantly worked on technically. But when it's going to be in a playable state when I'll release it to the public, here is an estimate:

Closed Beta Testing: When I finish splitscreen multiplayer. (3+ months)
Open Beta Testing: When I finish splitscreen multiplayer + AI (1+ month)
Final Demo/Preview: When I finish splitscreen multiplayer + AI + Campaign mode (3+ months)
Final Game: When I finish splitscreen multiplayer + AI + Campaign mode + customization + DLC support (Half a month)
Future Additions: Downloadable Campaigns, New Weapons, New Game Modes (including both single-p and multi-p)
Possible Additions: Online Multiplayer

Those times are completely made up right now, and are most likely not even close to what will really happen. But I'm aiming to work on this for a while...

EDIT:
I've started splitscreen multiplayer. I think I might have to limit splitscreen to two players though, instead of the originally planned 4 players. I'm not sure. I'm kind of thinking about whether or not it will be worth taking the time for, since most people don't have enough joysticks to use for 4 players.

Well, kind of. I'm doing the majority of it (at least 95%), but I'm occasionally getting some help from the GameMaker Community. (http://gmc.yoyogames.com). Over there I sometimes get some open source scripts and games to look at how and how I shouldn't be doing things.

Since I needed to familiarize myself with GameMaker's joystick functions, I made a second program called JoyView. This program will tell you whether or not your gamepad is going to be compatible with Yoshi Wars (and is generally a universal gamepad tester). Just plug in a gamepad, open the program, and see if all the joystick axes and buttons feed into it properly. If they don't tell me what kind of controller you have and what doesn't work.

Download JoyView and find out if Yoshi Wars will support your gamepad: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mjtvmjjytjm/JoyView.zip

I'd love to try that out, but I don't even have a joystick lol.

It will be Windows only, but if I upgrade to GameMaker 8 when it comes out then it might have support for the Mac. (but I can't guarantee it)
