Avoid using transparency with gifs unless you have to. You should have filled in the background instead of leaving it transparent. Gif's aren't too tollerant with transparent animations especially. Unfortunately PNG doesn't have animation support Sad. PNG is the best for transparency, with it's low file size. JPG for photos and super high quality (high file size though).
