Very great written mate. But i have disagree with you. AMD is rubish. I got it, and it heads up very fast, and it is slow. I'll rather have Intel.

Btw i got a 2,3 AMD.

I have an INTEL Celeron 2.80GHz and it lags on some games. Would buying an AMD Athlon II fix the problem?

Intel and AMD motherboards do not share the same compatibilities for its processors. I would suggest that you upgrade your Intel CPU; make sure it's compatible with your motherboard.

No I'm talking only about the FSB Speeds. The performance is pretty much the same with Intel's and lower.

what pretty much the same?

even the i5 2500k can outperform Phenom II X6s.
