Upgrading! [Please Read]
#1
Ok, I posted a thread earlier about upgrading my laptop. I now am more serious about this and have a little extra money.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720.

It can hold two HD's.

I am wanting two new Hard drives. I am thinking of buying two of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-250GB-7200RPM-16...19bc484945

They are 250GB and 7200RPM. I believe 7200RPM is high performance. I don't really know what the 16MB is, so please educate me and tell me if thats good or not.

To add another hard drive and change my current one I need a Hard drive caddy right? I only need one though (I presume) because I can just change out my current caddy [that came with the laptop] with a new 250GB one.

This Caddy looks ok to me:

Now, that takes me to purchasing:
  • Two 250GB HD's
    One HD Caddy

I can install these myself no problem. (or I should be able to, all I have to do is put them in and format, right?)

Now onto the RAM. This is where it will get a little tricky for me because I have to take apart my Laptop. According to this guide:

All I need to do is take off the bottom cover and my Keyboard to replace the RAM.

Currently I have 2GB of RAM total. I am going to assume I have two 1GB modules. I am wanting to max out the RAM at 4096MB, therefore I will need to buy two 2GB modules or a 4GB pack.

I have found two bundles that suite my needs but I can't tell which is better:

OR

One says:
  • PC2-6400
Other says
  • PC2-5300

I really am a novice with computer parts. I am experienced with using them, (so please don't assume I am a "noob" all around) just not with taking them apart!

Please/Thank you for any replies.
