You can use static IP addresses for certain programs such as p2p or torrents.
I also use a static IP on my WHS for remote access.
And I use static IP addresses on my network and turn off all other unused addresses so noone I don't know can attempt to connect.

It only took me about 30 - 45 minutes I've done this a ton of times so writing it was a breeze it was actually taking the snapshots and uploading that took a majority of the time.

Wow really nice tutorial, this should help person who needs to create servers for gaiming without using No-IP etc.

This is a very detailed tutorial. Just wondering why you would want to make your ip static? What are the benefits?
