I would suggest an essay on how online communication devices have changed the way in which people communicate with each other.
One point would be how the ability to communicate anonymously has had positive and negative outcomes. Anonymous communication allows people to express themselves without fear of repercussion, but it has also led to the abuse of anonymity, such as malicious hacking, flaming and bullying.
Another point can be of the different expectations and communication styles of different generations. The instant communication styles of the present vary greatly from the pace of pre-online communication styles, with later generations more expectant of instant responses.
