Help -- unknown DLL file in system32
#1
Hello...

I was wondering if someone call tell me what PLCUYD4.DLL is.
It is hidden and located in my system32 directory and I noticed it
when I browsed through Scotty's logs...

Thanks
Fiona

Had a bit of a search around and it does appear to be a harmless file.
Dont quote me on it. There is little out there on this actually.

Why were you in your system32 folder? Theres thousands of .ddl files in there1
Did "Scotty" bring it to your attention?
What is Scott?

I have XP Pro, I did a search on my Windows folder, and I don't have any files with "PLCUYD4" in any extension, I also Googled it, http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sou...ta=&aq=&oq=
It brought up 2 gibberish results, so it's probably an unnecessary file, although you should probably find out what it does before you delete it, and if you do, you should back it up, so you can repair it with a live CD or something (if it does happen to be an important file).
