Hopefully I'll get accepted, as I can bring some good tips and tricks to the fellow webmasters. However, what I find odd is the owner of the group doesn't wear the userbadge, but is still in it?

It's not necessary to wear the userbar to be in a group. It's displayed in additional usergroups.
