[TUT] How To Make A MineCraft Server [TUT]
#1
Hello SF...
Today im am going to show you how to setup a minecraft server either through a VPS or your own computer...

What you will need for a VPS:
Plugins.. and they can be found here http://plugins.bukkit.org (only if you want)
A VPS Host (I Use www.gsverse.net)
At least $12

What you will need for you computer:
Minecraft server files that are found here http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp and here http://bukkit.org/
Plugins.. and they can be found here http://plugins.bukkit.org (only if you want)
Good Internet
At Least 4gb Ram (in my opinion)

VPS Setup:
1. Buy A VPS host eg. www.gsverse.net
2. The server will automatically start up once you have paid.
3. enter the GP (Game Panel)
4. Click on the "Edit Game Details"
5. Click on "Details" (Now you can Edit the details of the server)
Adding Plugins
1. Click on " Manage Files" At the top
2. Click Plugins
3. Using a FTP or the online one Upload the plugins you want here and edit the by opening the folder in the plugins Directory eg. "Group Manager" then click Worlds, then click your Worlds name and then on the right hand side it should say edit. Then edit it to ur Preferences.
4. once you have done all that restart the server by Clicking "Restart"

Computer Setup:
1. Download Minecraft_Server.exe and craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT Files From http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp and bukkit.org
2. Make a Folder On your Desktop and Have those Two Files in there
3. In the folder open Minecraft_Server.exe and wait till it says done on the java window
4. After it says done close it and delete this file because it is not needed Minecraft_Server.exe
5. In the folder you created you will see new folder's now and now you can start editing them
6. Right click on server File and click edit but you may ask there is 2 server files.. well click on the one that says Properties file under were it says Types of files!!!
7. Edit the details to your details!!!!, change the server IP to you IP and you can find your IP at ipchicken.com
8. Create a .bat file name server.bat in Notepad that has this in it
Code:
@ECHO OFF
SET BINDIR=%~dp0
CD /D "%BINDIR%"
"%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
PAUSE

8. After you have done all that Create a plugins folder and put your plugins in there and after you have done that you folder should have should look like this
9. Start you server by clicking twice on the server.bat
And Make sure you leave the CMD window open so the server stays on..

That is it....
Have fun playing on your own servers Thumbsup
