Google Apps problem
#1
I tried setting up 'Google Apps Free' for a friend but the only domain ownership option I got was changing the 'CNAME' record on the domain isp cpanel'. The ISP, 'Freehostia' does not support CNAME, so verification this way cannot be done. I set up my own Google Apps (I am with byethost) without any problem, and I got to do it by file upload. How come I wasn't offered an alternative method of Domain ownership verification this time.
Update:
My domain is centraldgr.com and I tried setting apps up with webmaster as the admin account. I submitted all the info asked for, including password. When I received the confirmation email it asked me to login with the username@centraldgr.com but refuses to accept password. Now it only asks me to change the cname records on my isp cpanel, which ofcourse they do not support.

This is all I get from Google:
