What you want to get corresponds to how you will use your computer for the best efficiency. The larger the capacity of the hard drive the better. If you are only gaming, and surfing the web, 4GB of memory will do. If you are heavily multitasking, video editing, or doing graphics I would recommend 6GB-8GB of RAM. Also, 1GB of dedicated memory for your graphics card would be great, but it all depends on whether you can afford it or not.

Most of those will require a decent amount of RAM, as well as a good sound and graphics card. You need a good sound card to get the quality out of a music composition that you make if you're looking into music software like Cubase/Pro Logic/FL Studio/ etc... Video editing software will also require a good graphics card, and a fair bit of RAM especially when rendering your projects.
