if you want to install a distro to your USB, search Unetbootin in Google. You just select the distro and it automatically downloads and makes your USB drive bootable.

If you want one that doesn't take much space, i recommend Slitaz under 30 mb

You dont install linus, but download an ISO
Burn to disk using IMGburn
Boot from CD and follow prompts on the screen to partition your drive.

If you have Linux on a disc, it should let you choose the amount of space you would wish to use to dual boot or completely delete the whole other partition.

Create a partion for linux during installation.

ubuntu has the option to install it inside windows
basicly a dual boot without new partitions...
slowly getting better
