Not really, by killing viruses if you mean

Hey run malware bytes' and kill everything it finds, no.

You have to learn about more tools regardless of it cleans viruses. HJT Logs can show more than just viruses, it shows services such as µTorrent, P2P programs are recommended to be uninstalled, # of anti-viruses, more than one and they should be disabled, etc.

If you are interested in HJT training, mention any experience you have where appropriate in the application form.
