[How To] Build a Nice Computer For a Miniscule Price [How To]
#1
Introduction:

Most people are always wanting to buy a really nice computer but have a pretty tight budget. This guide will show you some really good places to buy computer parts for cheap. Putting it all together is up to you. ;)

Things you'll need:
  • Housing
  • RAM
  • Motherboard
  • Hard Drive
  • Cooling Unit
  • CPU
  • Interface Card
  • CD/DVD Drive
  • Sound Card
  • Power Supply
  • Video Card
  • Operating System

(Not Necessarily In That Order)

Guide:

Ok let's start finding the parts for cheap. I like to shop at TigerDirect. You can find these parts at other stores near you, possibly for even cheaper.

First we'll start with the Housing for your desktop.

If you want a nice cheap basic housing this ones nice:

$29.99:

If you want a more expensive but much nicer case you might want something like this:

$99.99

Or this:

$49.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=A406-1094

Ok next you're going to want a nice motherboard. I like a nice ASUS but you might like something a bit different. I'll provide a couple of options.
Now some of these motherboards are a bit expensive but their good quality.

For a decent, but, cheap motherboard you might want an ECS:

$19.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=S458-1383

Or a more expensive GIGABYTE motherboard:

$69.99:

Now I like a nice ASUS so here's a couple of options. This:

$69.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=A455-3067

Or this:

$89.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=A455-3505

Now if you'll need some RAM. Most people only need 2GB or 3GB but I like 4-8. Here's a few options from some good memory companies:

8GB of RAM:

$44.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=C13-5720

8GB of RAM:

$43.99

4GB of RAM:

$19.99

8GB of RAM (Kingston Big Grin):

$27.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=K24-9918

Now you will need a hard drive. Some pretty cheap ones that are actually pretty cheap ones that are loaded with storage can be found. Here are some I found:

1TB HDD:

$99.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=2459

1TB HDD:

$139.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=2459

1TB HDD:

$119.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=2459

Now we need a CD drive so you can run your DVD's and CD's and applications and such. Here are some really cheap ones.

DVD Writer:

$17.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=1624

DVD Drive:

$19.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...8&CatId=88

Now we need a fan for the computer. Here are a few cheap, but nice fans.

Fan (Cooler Master):

$39.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=C283-1202

Fan (Cooler Master):

$29.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=C283-2054

Now we need a CPU. Some of these are expensive and there's a wide variety depending on what you want. I'll post a few here.

AMD Phenom (6 Cores):

$149.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=A79-1055

AMD Phenom Black Edition (Six Cores):

$199.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=A79-1100

Now we'll need a graphics card. TD has some really nice ones for pretty cheap. And since we're keeping this as cheap as possible there might be some no-name brands. But they are still very good.

ATI Radeon (1GB):

$69.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=P450-6674

MSI GeForce GT (2GB):

$39.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=M452-0432

Now we'll need a sound card. Some pretty good quality ones are very cheap. Creative is a good brand and TD has some pretty cheap sound cards.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi (Refurbished | For Gaming):

$39.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=C44-3351

Sabrent 5.1 Surround Sound:

$9.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=M501-1042

Now we'll need a power supply so let's find some of those.
