I'd recommend Samsung, they make very excellent monitors.

Try the new Dell HD ready hardkier. It is cheap but good.

I have an Asus ML238h. Unfortunately, I think they stopped making them (it's unfortunate because I want to buy another one soon xD).
But anyway, I'm really happy with it, and I think other Asus monitors would be of the same quality. tldr: Asus

Samsung and LG. Far the best i tried. I own Sony myself but i would not torture people with it.

I would suggest Samsung, or Iyyama, but I think its impossible to get screens from them now. Have you looked as multi function monitors?

I've been very happy with the two Hanns-G monitors I've bought. They're relatively inexpensive and they don't come with many bells and whistles, but the one I use has a better picture than my Dell UltraSharp, and it only cost $120 as opposed to $320 (both were 19" monitors), as of a couple years ago.

I have a Viewsonic and I think it is by far one of the best things I have bought.
