Not always, it depends on the application. Of course, you do need to be able to do basic arithmetic (like counting) for practically any application.
I'm quite bad at maths, but since you will usually have some sort of maths library at your disposal, it's less about being able to do mental maths and more about knowing which formula (function) to use to solve a problem (which the internet can help you with).
