Is it powering up? Try different connectors, and a different SATA slot on your mobo.

So, I know you say its SATA, but I'm just making sure. What does the cable look like? Is it more of a ribbon, does it have the master and slave jumpers? If so this might be the problem.

It was recently connected and working before he took it out though

I know. I was just wondering if maybe he mixed up the jumpers or something by accident. If its not SATA then we we would have been giving him mute advice.
