Are there any special precautions I should take to keep my joomla site secure? I have already secured MyBB as best as I know how.

Well, you should only check vulnerabilities everyday, and pray. There isn't special precaution, just avoid to install too much plugins for joomla.
Joomla vulns are really numerous, unfortunately. Really not a secure CMS IMHO.
