Have you lost or forgotten your login password? You can use this tool to gain access back to your machine, works on most Windows operating systems and some Linux flavors. The .iso can be downloaded FREE from here: http://www.piotrbania.com/all/kon-boot/

Looks like a good tool but I won't use it, thanks.
By the way, the video of the software in use is great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTZX_ldU1MQ&feature=player_embedded

For some reason, KonBoot does not work on some BIOSes. It does not work on my Dell desktop.

No special usage instructions are required for Windows users, just boot from Kon-Boot CD/Floppy, select your profile and put any password you want. You lost your password? Now it doesnt matter at all :-)

Seems like a decent tools given you don't use encrypted files. I'll probably stick with the tools i've used for years for windows machines but it could come in handy for linux.

Quote:Can I read Windows EFS encrypted folders using Kon Boot?

Kon Boot will not allow encrypted folder access. In no case should you reset or change your password with a Windows EFS based login using Kon Boot (or any other tool). The password and the encryption key are binded, and changing the password of a Windows EFS login will require the original password to be reset before EFS folders can be accessed again via login.
