youtube Wrote:Dear XXXXXX,

Your video XXXXXX. has become popular on YouTube and you're eligible to apply for the YouTube Partnership Programme, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video.

Once you're approved, making money from your video is easy. Here's how it works: First, sign in to your YouTube account. Then, complete the steps outlined here: http://www.youtube.com/XXXXXXXXXXXXX. Once you've finished, we'll start placing ads next to your video and pay you a share of the revenue, as long as you meet the programme requirements.

We look forward to adding your video to the YouTube Partnership Programme. Thanks and good luck!

NO and NO.
But I would go and apply, what can you lose???
I guess that it depends on how much popular videos you have, than you can make money....
Youtube belongs to Google, so I'll say they Pay good ;) , but you'll need to work with it same as with AdSense...

I run adsence already and these vids in question have been up for years now and had thousands of views and many comments.
I was surprised to get multiple emails in 1 day though.
Perhaps it relates to how long a vid has been up not how many hits or comments?

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - Grizzly - 01-08-2010

Probably the hits and comments. I had a video up for 3 years and nothing Sad

But hey, I'd go ahead and sign up now, what's the worst that can happen? You only make a few bucks? That's still more than you would have made.

Looks like a scam email to be honest. Are you sure that it's from ###@youtube.com?

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - DAMINK™ - 01-08-2010

Yea it appears to be from youtube.

From YouTube no_reply@youtube.com

Inside the headers i read this.

from sjl-smtp6.sjl.youtube.com (sjl-smtp6.sjl.youtube.com [64.15.123.101])

Whois appears ok? http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=64.15.123.101

I cant work out if this is real or not either. I have never heard of this prior to today.

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - Grizzly - 01-08-2010

I'd send them an email and see what exactly they say about it.

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - DAMINK™ - 01-08-2010

It appears legit from here.
It hooks into your adsence account for payment which is pretty cool.

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - Grizzly - 01-08-2010

What domain does it take you to to sign up?

RE: Revenue share from youtube? - DAMINK™ - 01-08-2010

Smile Yea it takes me to youtube. Its obviously real and i have added several videos for review by youtube now.
I have asked around and some people are aware of this and its legit.

Good little supplement to my AdSense.

*Update*

Just to add. I just now checked my AdSense and it had pending approval to allow youtube to make payments so it all appears above board.
