Sandboxie is a program that is used to control where a program is ran, and can be terminated at anytime.
The advantage of using Sandboxie is that when you download a suspicious program and want to see if its infected, of you just don't trust it, run it sandboxed. After you terminate the process the virus wont be anywhere on your computer unless the virus maker has adapted it to disallow sandboxie, which will give you a virus.
Always use caution while downloading untrusted programs which can always pose a threat to your computer.
