On topic, it basically comes up when you accumulate a certain number of 'spam points' from quoting, linking, etc. That is what makes the most sense to me.

Other systems have so much better ways to get rid of spam bots.
My forum has not had a single spam bot in well over a year. And i get many daily that try register.

Just observations from a member who has not stepped foot in a mybb forum in a long time and was surprised to say the least to see that.
I would expect that on a new forum ran by a noob. Not Omni.
I guess SF is just not a priority now?
Either way i hate it. Well more than hate it. Its just tacky and annoying.
