Philosophical Math - elvinguitar - 04-08-2011

Let's start any math topic/statment here that's philosophical. So I'll start:

1. This sentence is false.

Is what I've said a true or false statement? Haha.

Share your ideas and opinions. Confusedmile:

It depends which way you look at it.

Conditionally your statement is true.
The sentence however is false.

Yeah! You're right. But as far as i know, this sentence can be proved using set theory. Confusedmile: But i already forgot the techniques in Math because I don't review my reviewers and I already stopped practicing solving different problems.

Wow, that is strange but would be interesting to study.

Nono
If the sentence is false then i mean that i'm saying the truth abouth the sentence's fallacy. Confusedmile:

This simple sentence is very complicated. I already forgot to prove it using set theory. sorry. Sad

Your statement is a paradox.

If the statement is false, the sentence is true.
If the statement is true, the sentence is false.

you're absolutely correct mate! It's a paradox. hahaha! Roflmao But if you're good in set theory, you can prove and get the correct answer.

but unfortunately, I'm not that good in math anymore.
