In my opinion 'Avast!' with MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware aswell as comodo firewall, is the best solution to a secure (and free) environment. As long as regular scans are carried out and you are cautious on the internet then I can't see the likelihood that you would be infected using these tools.

Well, I personally like: Comodo Internet Security, Avast, and Kaspersky.

I recommend AVG - They have developed a fantastic reputation by offering a free product that is equal to or better then many of the competitors.

I would get sandboxie and run your browser sanboxed, a couple other free antispyware progs and the "no script" firefox extension if you haven't already.
