Hi,

Since a while, vista has not been memorizing my folder options, which is absolutely annoying.

To give a visual explanation, I took two screenshots.

After reboot:

The way it should be:

Basically, it sets "Hide extensions" back on. Same goes for hidden files. Every time I reboot I have to re-set this, getting quite annoying.

Any fixes?
hm try find some options that must be turned on...or thats the bug...hmm i will try to find something i will tell u...
I had the same problem but after some time and a virus scan it stopped...
Did you make sure when you change the folder options you pressed Apply and then OK?

It's a Virus more than likely, use COMODO it will solve your problem's.
@Holy; Yes, I did.

@Karamitolas/Guerriero420; I won't say it is impossible that I have been infected, I consider my self an experienced PC user, however, to make sure I'll do a malware scan --> no changes --> Will look where my dad left the frigging McAfee disc(Which I haven't installed, because it slows down system a bit too much for my liking).

Will keep you guys informed about any changes.

Thanks.
Its not a virus causing your problem. Its a common problem with Vista, and back when I used Vista I personally had to correct this issue myself.

http://lonewolfonline.net/downloads/vist...ew-fix.txt

Download that file^ and change the extension to .reg instead of .txt.

Double-click it, say yes to merging with the registry, reboot your computer.

Set folders the way you want to, and they will be remembered. Also, clicking apply to all folders would probably be a good idea, and then manually change your music/video/picture folder views as they are the only ones i have special views for personally.

I can't remember what it is about Vista that causes it to happen, I just remember that the only fix is to completely delete every trace of it and force it to start over.

Hope this helps you with your problem dude.

Follow this and make sure it is turned on.
thanks for trying to help, but he obviously already knows how to do that. he needs it to remember. i will be very confused if my method doesn't fix his issue however.
@Wrath, I just did that, after restart/explorer kill the extensions are gone again -.-

I assume this is the correct sequence:

1. Change file extension
2. Run it
3. Reboot
4. Change settings
5. Reboot/explorer kill
6. Extensions should be there, however are still gone :<
