But seriously (if you don't take first advice) you should try and move on, 2 years ago, seriously.

That's a bit harsh. =\

Ironically, pretty much the same thing happened to me, without her saying she had cancer though... We just grew farther apart, and eventually I got over her, it will just take some time, you'll be fine. Smile

If so have you gotten over it?
Again, if so, how?
I am sick of this pain...

Many people claim you never fully get over your first love. Mine? I'm very sad he was sentenced to prison, but my sympathy is primarily reserved for his family.

I was pretty heartbroken when I had to divorce my first husband upon the discovery that he was cheating. I was devestated for a very long.

How did I get over it? I set it as a goal for myself which I worked my butt off to acheive, and did! I am so much happier with my 2nd husband that I only wish I could send that girl my first husband cheated on me with a thank you letter and great big fruit basket!

I did all kinds of things to keep myself busy, exercise, volunteer work, painting and decorating my new place. And I dated, almost any and every one! I announced my availablity as a date for; weddings, social functions, association and award dinners, you name it, Yo! Here I am! I clean up nice to look pretty good on a guy's arm, so my offer was a great success.

How do you stop thinking about your broken heart? I reminded myself of a famous quote from Alice in Wonderland, which I repeated frequently, which goes like this:

Quote:"The horror of that moment," the King went on, "I shall never, never forget!" "You will, though," the Queen said, "if you don't make a memorandum of it."

A certain amount of greiving is normal, but if it's already been 2 years? It's time to move on so every time you find yourself thinking about her and getting depressed, force yourself to stop. Do whatever it takes to erase those thoughts from your mind. Tell yourself that every time you fail, that you will give $5 to a homeless person, run 2 miles, offer to do your mom's housework for a week -- and then do it!

Just think about it. If you give $5 to a homeless person every time you think about your GF, before long you should realize just how much this girl is costing you, not just in terms of dollars, but in terms of your own peace of mind, by continuing to live rent-free in your head! Serve the eviction notice!

If you continue to do this faithfully, before long you'll find you won't have to force yourself to do anything. The less you think about her, the sooner you'll forget pretty much everything about her.

I wish you the best of luck!
I know how you feel.

Life goes on, the only thing you can really do is try your hardest to move on. Your girlfriend hurt you, it's going to hurt for a long time, I'm not going to lie to you. You probably know all of this, but it's the truth. It always hurts.

Good luck overcoming your problems.

Ethical
Yeah , sometimes im scared to have a girlfriend , knowing that she will break up with me some day.. =/
Thanks for the support majordave...I never really saw things that way...You family and friends are lucky to have you. Smile
Breakups are just something that happen. The best thing to do is always try to stay friends with him/her. Do not become greedy. If he/she thinks the relationship isn't working, and you truly value his/her opinion, you would stay friends with him/her, instead of completely blowing him/her off and causing more pain between the two of you.

staying friends with an ex can be hard but it can also be good at the same time. All depends on how bad the breakup was. if you were friends before
