Windows 8 is junk. They completely changed around everything, the tile-view and the fact that they completely removed the start orb button, just makes it useless for a desktop computer. Otherwise if you plan on running Windows 8 on your phone, then it's fine, great, you can then actually make use of the touch screen features which are completely useless to a desktop user when you have a mouse and keyboard.

Anybody who says it's good hasn't used it enough to see what's wrong with it. I really do hope at the LEAST they keep that start orb, not even sure what the developers thinking by changing absolutely everything around like that. Even the explorer-view, it's like the control panel all in itself, they've made it look like the Windows ribbon version of explorer, like a Microsoft office view with tools cluttered everywhere in something that is only supposed to be used for searching the filesystem.

I'll be using Windows 7 until at least Windows 9 or they come to their senses for the official release of Windows 8 and change things around to not only fit their Metro visual and idea of simplicity, but to actually make things practical for the end user. They went for a simplistic style, and to do that ended up combining everything nearly. Start orb gone, a tile view instead of a programs folder that people will have to start using unless they manually navigate to the programs folder every time, control panel integrated with explorer.exe basically...

I think it's senseless... The idea of the MetroUI is cool, but they've become so obsessed with it that they've thrown everything else away. In my opinion they looked at what Apple did with simplicity, and tried to recreate their own style of it, but failed miserably.

Ah, seems me and Ace are going to dissent about this one. To lazy to type out a full reply atm. Though I gotta say, I hope it stays just the way it is, and hope they add some other cool features.

Whenever someone says "stuff" in a sentence, they don't know what their talking about.

All of my friends have either moved to Win7 or stayed with win XP

I would never use vista. As you said, it just has too many problems. I still see some people using it, I don't know how. I'm currently using windows 7 and loving it.

^I refuse to use Windows 8; I would rather use Windows 95.

Can you explain the problems with it other than "It uses too many resources/stuff" or "It freezes lots"?

I haven't seen anybody specifically say why Vista is so bad, because i'm sure they just go by word of rumour, and really don't know that much about it. There's actually hardly anything wrong with Vista. My only perception is that it was a rushed release of what was eventually to be Windows 7, even though they came out with an improved version of filesearching from that NT version, but other than that, Vista is almost identical. Just a bit more optimized code in a few aspects of the OS itself.

I'd never move back to Vista now that I have a Windows 7 Ultimate version, there's just no point regardless, I wouldn't even move back to XP at this point regardless of the version. It's backtracking, but there is honestly nothing wrong with Vista.. You guys all overreact lol.

I have a couple of friends who use Vista. I use Windows 7 though and it seems like a mashup between XP and Vista. Personally i liked XP much better, but 7 is decent after all. I just dislike Vista's interface, and as an old XP user it was extremely complicated to find things on Vista. Settings, mostly. I know wtere they are on XP but it's impossible to find on Vista, wich is one of the negative parts of that OS.

But yeah, people still use it. It's becoming exchanged for Windows 7 though.
