So one of the latest trends seems to be the new iPad 3. Free iPads for everybody! '..all you have to do is complete a simple little survey to get yours shipped to your house in no time!' What are these advertisements? Are they real, and how can they be trusted?

The simple answer is: yes. They are real, but not always. The main rule is: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Always read the tiny letters at the bottom of offers. Ninja

The term 'free ipad 2 real or fake' has been one of the most searched internet based questions on Google & Yahoo Answers for a while.

What kind of marketing is this and how does it work?

This type of marketing is called affiliate marketing. There a lot of types of affiliate marketing. These are the most common:
  • Pay Per Click (PPC)
  • Pay Per Performance (PPP)
  • Pay Per Sale (PPS)
  • Pay Per Lead (PPL)
  • Cost Per Action (CPA)
Things like email/zip submits are usually sponsored by CPA ads. Advertisers pay publishers for certain actions (such as doing a survey or purchasing a product) to get people to subscribe their home addresses and/or email addresses to future advertising. So if you submit your email address to one of those free pizza offers you are probably going to get it spammed for a while. That's why I suggest creating at least a spare account for doing these offers.

A good example would be a network like VIPDownloads.org. It provides exclusive quality downloads which can't be found anywhere else. These would be things like free Anti Virus codes, software, methods on how to get free stuff like an iPad. In order to get access to a lot of these things, you will need to complete a survey to unlock the files. This is called Pay Per Download (PPD). The owner of the site is getting paid per download. But who is he getting paid by? He is getting paid by a PPD network. And the PPD network is getting paid by CPA advertisers (the people that create the free iPad 3 offers).

Here's an interesting example: How to Get Apple Products for Free. This post shares an eBook containing a method to get that free iPad 3. If you try to download it, you'll see you'll need to complete a survey before you can download the file. Depending on your country, you might need to complete a Free iPad 3! offer to get the eBook. These are called incentive ads: you will get rewarded for completing an ad.

Sites like this usually participate in reputable affiliate systems with verified advertisements, so the offers are usually legit. The truth is, the chances of you actually winning the free reward is rather slim. Oui
Hm...
There are a few ways to get them for free, but don't believe everything you see

Rumors are usually falsely spread.
