Hello everyone. I need help in identifying my powerbook. I am would like to buy a new hinge as one of the hinge is broken, but I was told by a seller that I must either have TI or AI. I have no clue as to how to identify that. Can someone please help?
I presume that you are wanting to find he serial number of your Powerbook. Just go click the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen, and select "About this Mac".
Hey Cooldude,
Thanks for replying. I know all the specs and the serial number. But this TI, or AI is not mentioned anyway. Even when I do an intensive search on 'about this mac'.
I am totally at a loss, really.
Ahh, the good old Macbook G4.
The last macbooks they made where you could actually replace the battery yourself.
I'm afraid parts for those haven't been manufactured for some time now and it's very hard to find parts like hinges for them.

I recommend taking a look at it yourself to make sure that the hinge actually needs replacing because sometimes you can just fix them yourself fairly easily.
Just be careful not to damage the display while you're at it.
Don't take this the wrong way Pinkie, but it does't take a genius to recognise a broken hinge. Sad
Call apple and give them your serial. They will help you through everything, even if you do not have a warranty.
