I have an old computer that I would like to watch movies off of. My tv has a dvi port on it and my computer has vga. I bought a vga to dvi adapter and i plugged my computer into the tv but I have no signal. All of my video channels are black.

I have a sony KP-51WS510 and a eMachines windows 7 computer.

Try turning the television to different inputs until you find the computer. If that doesn't work you might have to configure the computer a little bit to output video. Right click the desktop and hitting properties in windows xp will give you options to select output if you choose the right tab.
If this was confusing, I apologize as I'm on my itouch ATM.

You might have just wanted to buy a dvi to hdmi cable. My computer has no hdmi port and thats what i use. The less stuff you need to make something work, the better.

Where did you buy the Converter ?
Have you used it before ?
Make sure it works .
