To care for ourselves and people who need us the most

You were the only one who knew me

For you my feelings true
But you gave me not a cent of patience
And its tearing out my conscience in two
Because unconsciously I'm wishing for you to stay too

I'd blow my brains out
I'd do anything for you
No one could ever know me as well as you do
My nights wind away to days thinking about you
If I could have a moment in silence,
I'd pray to God, yes I would
To take my life instead of yours, because my life is you

You're the one who took me under your wing
Protected me till I was ready and out the cage I flew
If I didn't know better,
I'd always turn towards you.
You have the accolades of kindness, wisdom and truth,
This me paying homage to every thing that you do.
The bright light on my horizon,
The sun on my side,
That little voice inside of me that always knows what is right.

Author's Note: Definitely an emotional poem. Don't remember much about why or how I wrote, but that I felt something strong within me when I did. Hope you all like it.

Were you meaning to rhyme or was it free verse? Either way it's a really good poem just want to see what type.

I say this because some of the lines end in the same word.

Originally it was supposed to rhyme, but I felt too restricted and turned it to free verse.

Perhaps. I don't exactly remember who I though of when I wrote it, but this poem is dedicated to everyone in my life who has supported me and led down the right path.

I wrote it, thinking about a friend actually. Never told him I wrote it for him.
