Even as a student, I agree that this is a bad thing, as I would constantly be distracted by text's from Facebook.

Tell me one student whos ganna pay attention with phones. Its a bad idea to use it DURING CLASS TIME but if its lunch time, then they can use it

Nope, they are a massive distraction. They're allowed in our school, but not in class.

They are too big of distraction to have turned on and being used. As long as they are put away and turned off/silent then I see no problem with them.
