For the new Ubuntu users who are running 11.04; due to legal reasons they haven't included this in the installation of the OS. So here are the commands:

Step 1 : Open the terminal (CTRL+ALT+T).

Step 2 : First, run this command:

sudo apt-get install libdvdread4 (It may be installed,if so then move to next step).

Step 3 : Next, run this command :

sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

Step 4 : Now remove the dvd from the tray and insert it again. Now Mplayer will open it automatically (If not then check the options). You can also play with VLC player.

It will allow you to play DVDs now ;)

Can't we just use TrueCrypt which is easier?

Truecrypt is used for encrypting a partition, hdd, or group of files into a container...He's talking about playing commercial movies with encryption (to prevent DVD copying) on Linux.

But, installing VLC media player is my vote. I love VLC. Thanks OP!
