I have to say go with AVG, and put malwarebytes on there to, just in-case something slips through. (though mb takes forever to run a full scan at least for me)

I personally use MalwareBytes and ESET NOD32, they are a deadly [Or I guess non-deadly] combination. :z

Avira is good in my opinion.

Avast since they share there virus database with Avira.

I use Microsoft's Security Essentials its the best IMO. Microsoft made it as they made your OS. Who knows the Mercedes better then Mercedes?

knowing the operating system doesn't have as much to do with it though from my point of view. There's hackers out there that find flaws in the OS that Microsoft doesn't find out until it's been proven as a security issue through someone successfully gaining entry to something or being able to do something that they are not supposed to be able to do. So really, I think it's a lot more about knowing the trend and techniques used by malicious code out there to do something to your computer that may be harmful. (Which can be done by having a big database with listings of hundreds of old and new malicious code out there.)

In my opinion, they have the power to make one of the best AV's out there, and they could make tons of money from it too. All they'd need to do is to send reports of any suspicious activity on your computer through the same way they are connected to you through your Windows updates, and they would have almost every possible combination of malicious code one could think of.

It's not the best though since it doesn't do as well as a firewall. It's just a lightweight excuse for not buying an Antivirus that's already listed out there. If they kept it up though, they could be at the top. Right now MSE doesn't do a whole lot to protect your system, only locally.

Though there are only a few 'hackers' who can do it then. And you won't find those people here on this kind of forums.

Lets say I give you my own 'Framework' lets call it TheOneFramework, and I tell you to work with it on any program you want, I will do the same. Which what will be better?

From MY point of view that is why I chose to use MSE. I've also made malware/spyware and I laughed my ass of when I had Norton, ESET or AVG how easy it was to bypass them.

Nonetheless erless I think every anti virus is good, but its depending on the user which anti virus they like

I'd use AVG just because thats what I started out with when I first bought my computer, it kept me virus free but it detected some false positives.

avg free 2011 is very nice and has loads of features, i would recommend that for #1 free antivirus.

You'd better get a crack if your'e choosing AVG. More functions.
