Omg ;___;
There's this exotic pet store Viral and I go to. He was all excited to see them feed the snakes and lizards. I was until I saw them bring out the mice. I was like "that could have been our pets! D: " while he's like "OMG LOOK AT THAT" Omg
Hah, I bought my little brother a dwarf hamster for his birthday. It was dead by morning and that was the end of that. XD Ever since then we've had a "sleeping hamster" back in the woods.
O.o How did it die in one day?

I think it ran itself to death on the little spin wheel thing. Unsure
.__. wow, are you sure you had the right kind of wheel? Generally, most wheels sold are safe for hamsters, except for the ones with the kind of square grating where their feet can get caught in it. There's another one I think that has a side looking bar or...I don't know how to really describe it, but it could get caught between that bar or the wheel. Sorry about the hamster though, that's sad Sad

Lol, don't feel bad. :p I doubt he got attached to the thing in 1 day. Also, the wheel was one of those plastic ones that only was open on the sides. So the part where it ran was solid. Any recommendations on a hamster for a 8 year old? :3
Ohh okay, those wheels are safe Tongue

Also hamsters aren't really recommended for kids, I think. They're naturally nocturnal, so unless the kids is up all night, they may be bored by a pet that will mostly sleep during the day. They can be up during the day though; like some of them may adjust to your daily schedule, but they're still naturally nocturnal. Might want to try a bigger hamster. The one I have is a teddy bear hamster; they're bigger than dwarfs. Mine is a freaking ninja. He has a three-level cage and he scales the side bars like they're nothing Big Grin Big Grin I think an eight year old will be fine with a hamster though as long as they understand that they can't expect the hamster to be active all day and that they are very delicate creatures :3
I Don't like rodents personally they freak me out.
Well, to each their own. If they're house pets though, they shouldn't be diseased or rabid and if you take care of them, they shouldn't look shabby or "wild animal"ish. I've seen people train rats to be as calm as a house cat and they'd just let it wander the house on its own. But to each their own :]
I love seeing the snake eat the mouse.
