Full Version: Did I placed my MetaTags right?

I placed my MetaTags in the "headerinclude" template.
I placed them at the top, like this:
Code:
<html>

<head>
<meta name="description" content="Discuss Dubstep, have a chat, and check the newest releases within Dubstep.">
<meta name="keywords" content="Dubstep, Music, Forum, EDM, Hardstyle">
</head>
Is this right, or completely wrong?

Thanks in advanced Smile.
To insert keyword meta tags on your site, you will need to place following code
into Edit HTML area somewhere below opened <HEAD> tag.
Note: Do not place tag below closed </HEAD> tag.

<META CONTENT='YOUR KEYWORDS' NAME='KEYWORDS'/>

Replace YOUR KEYWORDS with your keywords. Separated with comma (,).
Showed like below keyword example.

I found that on a eBook.
Yup, that looks correct to me Big Grin

-And thanks, will check the Google SEO plugin out!
How effective are meta tags?
Not very effective on google since google scans the content instead of meta tags. You'd be creating meta tags for other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc..
No no no! You don't add meta tags to the headerinclude template, that means meta tags are the same for all pages, which is a very bad practice. Google recommends you to generate unique meta tags for each page, even though they don't care much about meta tags (except description which they use on search results).

I recommend installing Google SEO which, besides all the other great features, will generate unique meta tags for threads and forums. Then you just have to add meta tags to the index template and you're done. Smile
