Here's a WB External HD that i've had since Christmas so far, and I haven't found anything wrong with it so far, I have it plugged into my USB3.0 and the transfer rate on it is great too.

I don't know how you could have not possibly heard of this and the other massive problems relating to their HDDs.

That's only for a specific model. Usually other models make up for it in the end, and Seagate does have some pretty high quality stuff, but i'd say in general based on all of the Hard Drives i've gotten from them, i'm satisfied. Never bought a Barracuda though from Seagate.

If you want to get down to end-user experience, you can just look at the reviews on websites such as newegg. I don't think it's a coincidence that seagate HDDs consistently seem to fail more than other manufactures. Why settle for something that obviously has a higher chance to fail when there are better alternatives out there?
